Winter is the perfect time to start planning your garden, but with so many seeds to choose from it can be overwhelming. Many garden woes could be avoided by putting the right plant in the right place. Find out more on how to choose the right seeds for your garden this spring! Join Clallam County Master Gardner Muriel Nesbitt for the Green Thumb Education Series presentation “Choosing Your Seeds,” Thursday, February 13th from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 510 E. Park Avenue in Port Angeles.
Where should you start, what company should you buy from, and which variety should you choose? Muriel will help take the guess work out of your seed purchases by going over which are the best for your needs. She will delve into topics like which varieties are disease resistant; seeds that thrive where you plant them; what to give seeds so they flourish; and when to plant your seeds. Muriel will also talk about coated, treated or pelleted seeds, heirloom seeds, OP and F1 seeds. She will also cover how to prepare for planting, the new USDA, AHS and Sunset zones and how climate change may affect first and last frost dates.
Please note that the Green Thumb presentation series has a new time: 1 p.m.—2 p.m.
