In Celebration of President’s Day, Sherwood Assisted Living presents “Contemporary Conversations with George Washington.” The event features America’s first president, George Washington, on Presidents’ Day, Wednesday, February 19, at 2:30 p.m. Sherwood is located at 550 West Hendrickson Road, Sequim, WA.
Attendees will have the rare chance to experience a living history performance as Vern Frykholm, a talented reenactment actor, brings George Washington to life. In this captivating portrayal, Mr. Frykholm, embodying Washington, will offer insights into his Presidency and share personal stories from his life. Following the presentation, the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions and engage directly with the first President. Come with the questions you’ve always wanted to ask and get ready to meet George Washington face-to-face.
“We were thrilled with the response from our community last year, and we’re excited to welcome everyone back for another unforgettable experience,” said Janaye Birkland, Facilities Director. “Vern Frykholm’s portrayal of George Washington left a lasting impression, and we’re so pleased to have him return to bring history to life once again. It’s a wonderful way for all generations to connect with our nation’s past and celebrate Presidents’ Day together.”
“Contemporary Conversations with George Washington” is open to the public at no charge, RSVPs are appreciated but not required. Sherwood Assisted Living welcomes individuals of all ages, and with no school on Presidents’ Day, the organizers hope to see families attending together. Grandparents and parents are encouraged to bring their children for an educational and entertaining experience.
About Vern Frykholm
Vern Frykholm, the talented reenactment actor portraying George Washington, has been captivating audiences since February 2012. With over 500 portrayals to his credit, Frykholm has reached more than 25,000 people across various settings, including schools, service clubs, libraries, business and church groups, and conferences.
Adapting to the challenges posed by the Covid crisis, George Washington Speaks, Frykholm’s initiative, responded by engaging with audiences through online platforms. The project has produced over 80 educational videos, which can be found on its website George Washington Speaks https://georgewashingtonspeaks.com/ and YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@georgewashingtonspeaks7988. With a goal of creating 200 more videos for the 250th celebra-tion of the Declaration of Independence on July 4th, 2026, George Washington Speaks continues to be a valuable edu-cational resource.
As the event draws near, Sherwood Assisted Living invites the community to join them in welcoming His Excellency George Washington, a figure revered as “First in war, first in peace, and first in the hearts of his countrymen.”
