PORT ANGELES – A routine traffic stop led to a large drug bust near Port Angeles on the Fourth of July.

29-year-old Arik Mason of Port Angeles was jailed last night,  accused of making false statements; an outstanding arrest warrant; and possession of heroin cocaine and methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

He was arrested about 8:20 pm when a Clallam County sheriff’s deputy pulled over the vehicle Mason was driving for a seat belt violation.

The deputy says Mason provided a false name and was using an alias.  Mason’s true identity was discovered, and he was arrested due to an outstanding arrest warrant and for making false statements.

Deputies established there was probable cause that there were controlled substances within the vehicle and a search warrant was granted.

Deputies found nearly 100 grams of heroin, three grams of cocaine, 15 and a half grams of methamphetamine, and various drug paraphernalia. The estimated street value of the narcotics is estimated to be over $11,000.00.

The vehicle was seized due to it being utilized directly for the purposes of distributing controlled substances.
