PORT ANGELES – A 20-year-old Port Angeles man is in custody after admitting to buying and then reselling a handgun that he believes was stolen from Fred’s Guns last month.

Isaiah Hylton was arrested Tuesday by state troopers following a tip from an ATF agent that Hylton was attempting to sell guns out of a room at the Holiday Lodge Motel in Port Angeles. A second source stated that Hylton appeared to be selling drugs out of his car in the hotel’s parking lot.

Further surveillance supported the tips, and when Hylton was seen driving away from the hotel with a male passenger late Tuesday night, troopers pulled him over based on his driver license having been revoked.

The State Patrol’s Probable Cause Statement says Hylton admitted to having a loaded .22 caliber handgun under the car seat. Hylton also stated he’d recently been in possession of a handgun that had been stolen from Fred’s Gun Store in Sequim, saying he knew it was a stolen gun because it still had the tag on it. He said he bought the gun and then sold it to another individual.

Hylton’s passenger, 19-year-old Dylan Moore, told troopers that Hylton had guns and drugs back at the hotel room, which was later confirmed after obtaining a search warrant.

Hylton is a convicted felon, with convictions for possession of a stolen firearm and burglary. He was arrested and appeared in Clallam County Superior Court Thursday, where bail was set at $50,000 and bond at $50,000.

The Fred’s Guns case is being headed up by the ATF.
