PORT ANGELES – Rescuers helped a man who fell into the Elwha River.
The unidentified man fell into the river about 3:30 yesterday afternoon downstream from the Altair Campground area.
Clallam 2 Fire-Rescue called in the area’s swift water rescue team. When crews got there, they found the man had gotten out of the water but was suffering from hypothermia.
Paramedics were able to hike into the victim and prepared him for transport to Olympic Medical Center.
A Lifeflight helicopter was brought in on standby but was not needed.
