SEQUIM — The Annual Kid’s Fishing Day at Carrie Blake Park in Sequim is scheduled for Saturday, April 13 from 8:00am to 2:00pm.

All kids 14 years of age and younger are invited to fish, free of charge, at the pond on the north side of the park. No fishing license is required, and kids can keep two fish each.

The event is sponsored by the hard-working members of Puget Sound Anglers North Olympic Peninsula Chapter. Vice President Dave Croonquist says there will not be a shortage of rainbow trout in the pond this year.

Last year’s event in May was cancelled because hot weather made the pond too warm and a lot of the fish died, which is why the event is now held in April.

The trout come from Fish and Wildlife’s Hurd Creek Hatchery in Sequim. Worms and power bait will be provided courtesy of Blue Water Distributing, Swains will have their hot dog wagon set up, and there’ll also be a fish cleaning station.
