A cougar attacked and killed a dog Monday at a beach along Hood Canal in Mason County, according to police.

Wildlife officers and deputies responded to a report of a cougar attack at a beach north of Hoodsport. The dog’s owner was walking it on the beach when the cougar attacked and killed the dog.
