PORT ANGELES – Today there were two more reported incidents of luring of students in our area.
A Jefferson Elementary student was approached by a car while walking to school this morning. The student could not give any details of the car, but the driver was female, Caucasian, black hair, age range between 20 and 30 years of age. She offered the student a ride and the student declined. This was on South Chase Street between East Whidbey and East Vashon.
And the Sheriff’s office reports that a Hispanic male in his 20’s, short black hair but no facial hair, driving a silver Jeep Grand Cherokee with a spare tire with black cover on the back, attempted to make contact and pick up a middle school student. This occurred in the area of Mount Pleasant Road and Yellow Rock Road. The driver tried to engage the student, but then turned onto Henry Boyd Road between 6:55 and 7:00 a.m.
This makes 4 events of this kind in the last 3 weeks. Parents are reminded to review basic personal safety rules with your children, including the danger of accepting rides from strangers.
