PORT ANGELES – Two derelict motorhomes along Highway 101 east of Port Angeles were scrapped and jail inmates helped haul off the remains.

Yesterday morning, the Clallam County Sheriff’s Chain Gang, with the assistance of the Clallam County Road Department, began the process of the motorhomes to scrap. The vehicles posed an attractive nuisance to neighboring residents and businesses near South Bayview Drive and Highway 101.

Sherriff’s officials say the motorhomes were often used for illicit drug use.

Neighbors complained and after analyzing rising crime rate data in the neighborhood, took action to remove the motorhomes.
