PORT ANGELES – Recent graduate of Port Angeles High School Marcus Trujillo had a successful trip to the 2018 SkillsUSA Championships in Louisville, Kentucky last week. Marcus competed against 42 other students to build a cabinet in 8 hours, and was awarded a Skill Point Certificate for his efforts, one of the nation’s highest awards.

With over 6,300 students this year, the SkillsUSA Championships is the largest skill competition in the world and covers a million-and-a-half square feet, equivalent to 20 football fields or 25 acres.

Wood Tech teacher Tim Branham worked with Marcus for four years at the high school. Is he proud of his protege?

Branham says Marcus is weighing his options since graduating in June, but is looking into  becoming a welder or a lineman.
