Sequim – The Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce announced Tuesday their winner of the 2024 Citizen of the Year Award.

Ron Stecker has served as a volunteer photographer in the local community for many years. Nominated by Dan and Janet Abbott, he has photographed many well-known events, including Lavender Festival Weekend, the Air Affaire, and the Revolutionary war re-enactment.

The two other finalists were Blaine Zechenelly, head of the local Community Emergency Response Team program, and Nicole Lepping, founder and first board president for the Sequim Wheelers.

Also honored at Tuesday’s luncheon was George Brown, who received 2024’s Humanitarian of the Year Award. Brown was recognized for his tireless volunteer efforts and financial support to benefit organizations ranging from the Boys and Girls Club of the Olympic Peninsula to the Olympic Medical Center Foundation.
