PORT ANGELES – The Olympic Medical Center (OMC) Board of Commissioners has advanced from the Discovery phase to the Evaluation phase in its search for potential healthcare partners, officials announced during the board’s Feb. 19 meeting.

According to OMC staff, the process seeks partners who can ensure long-term access to high-quality, affordable healthcare. By Feb. 12, OMC had received inquiries from several organizations, selecting some for further review. Officials said names will remain confidential to encourage competitive proposals.

The Evaluation phase, continuing through April, involves assessing each organization’s financial stability, operations, and alignment with OMC’s mission. A final decision—either selecting a partner or remaining independent—is expected by April or May.

In a memo released this week, the board emphasized that moving to this phase does not guarantee a partnership but shows their commitment to evaluating all options thoroughly. OMC officials said updates will continue at upcoming board meetings to maintain transparency and community engagement.
