PORT ANGELES — Drivers passing through the intersection of Golf Course Road and Highway 101 on Tuesday morning, January 7, 2025, will encounter temporary changes as part of the City’s Signal Controller Upgrade Project.

Starting at 6:00 a.m., the traffic signals at this busy intersection will be turned off for about two hours. During this time, uniformed police officers will be stationed at the intersection to direct vehicles. Temporary signals will not be in place, so drivers are encouraged to remain alert and follow officers’ instructions.

Access to Golf Course Road from Highway 101 will also be restricted during the outage. Instead, eastbound drivers will be rerouted onto South Penn Street and then East 3rd Street. Westbound drivers will need to take a detour via Ennis Street and East 1st Street.

Additionally, South Penn Street will see temporary restrictions, with traffic at its intersection with 1st Street limited to right turns only.

The temporary shutdown is part of a larger effort to improve traffic infrastructure in the area. Commuters are advised to plan ahead, expect minor delays, and consider alternate routes. Detour maps and further details are available through the City’s project updates.
