SAPPHO — A speeding pickup truck driver crashed into a guardrail Monday night on State Route 112, leaving him injured and facing multiple charges, the Washington State Patrol reported.

Troopers say 41-year-old Joseph A. Colfax of Port Angeles lost control of his F-150 around 9:08 p.m. near milepost 12. The truck crossed the center line, hit the eastbound guardrail, and blocked the eastbound lanes.

Troopers said Colfax, who was not wearing a seatbelt, suffered injuries and required airlifting to Olympic Medical Center. They confirmed that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

Authorities charged Colfax with a DUI and driving with a suspended license. The crash totaled the truck. No other vehicles or individuals were involved.
