PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Roughrider tennis team improved to 9-1 on the season after defeating Olympic 6-1 yesterday. Tate Alton lost to his Olympic opponent 0-6, 2-6, who is a serious contender for a State Championship. Sky Gelder won 6-1, 6-3, and Garrett Buerer secured a 6-0, 6-1 victory. In doubles, Luke Flodstrom and Nathan Basden won 6-0, 6-2, while Keatyn Hoch and Austin Worthington triumphed 6-1, 6-2. Carter Gunderson and Grant Butterworth won 6-2, 6-3, and Zach Neff and Carston Siebel rounded out the wins with a 6-0, 6-1 result.

The Sequim Wolves (3-4) face a crucial home game against 5-2 Kingston. The Wolves lost to Kingston in their first meeting after a scoreless overtime led to a shootout. If Sequim hopes to secure third place in league standings, tonight’s game is a must-win.

In volleyball, 5-2 Sequim hosts 3-4 Kingston, while Port Angeles travels to North Mason.
The Peninsula Pirates will host a soccer doubleheader tomorrow against Skagit Valley. For the remainder of the season, the men’s team will play first, with the women starting the late game in all NWAC matchups. The Pirate men kick off at 2:00 p.m., followed by the women at 4:15 p.m. It will be a homecoming for former Roughrider Paige Mason, who has started in five games for the Cardinals.
