SEQUIM — The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is preparing for its second annual Safety Fair this Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Guy Cole Center in Sequim’s Carrie Blake Park.
Hosted by CERT, in partnership with the city of Sequim and Clallam County Fire District 3, the fair aims to give residents a hands-on look at the local services that help keep the community safe.
Visitors can explore fire trucks, police cars, boats, and even a Life Flight helicopter. There will be fire extinguisher demonstrations to teach attendees how to handle emergencies. Inside, booths will provide information and resources from various community organizations.
Blaine Zechenelly with Fire District 3 helped organize the event.
“What you’re going to find is we have more than just the uniformed services. We’ve got NGOs coming in. For example, the Dungeness Free Clinic, OMC, and Jamestown Family Clinic will be there. This is an opportunity to talk to the leadership of those organizations. You can tell them good things, bad things, or give them ideas. It’s a chance to engage with the community in a way you don’t usually get,” said Zechenelly.
There’s something for the whole family to enjoy, with safety presentations, kids’ activities, and homesteading displays making the day both educational and fun.
