PORT ANGELES — It’s a “Sweet 16” regional match up tomorrow as the Port Angeles 17-7 Roughrider girls travel to Tacoma Community College to take on the West Valley 13-9 Eagles out of Spokane. The winner advances to the Yakima Sun Dome for a Wednesday Morning battle against the loser of the #3 Seed WF West – #6 seed Archbishop Murphy game.

The Eagles knocked off Pullman 59-50 in their district semifinal game. The Grey hounds found out early just how lethal the Eagles 5’10” senior point guard Chloe DeHaro is. De Haro hit 5, 3-point shots and filled up the score book for 40 points. As a sophomore DeHaro once put up 46 points against Cheney High School. She will play a at Division 2 Northwest Nazarene in Nampa, Idaho and is a weight room regular. DeHaro, who carries a 3.8 GPA, says her favorite class is weightlifting and is going to be a teacher and future coach. She’s been timed a blistering 13.8 in the100 meter dash.

DeHaro has plenty of help from her Eagle teammates who have good size, but DeHaro is the only senior starter. Macy Osborn is a 5’11” junior who averages 10 points per game and had a season high of 17 points. Willow Burrill is a 5’10 junior who averages 8 points per game. Brynlee Ordinaro is a 5’9″ sophomore who averages 6 points per game. The Eagles went 9-3 in their last 12 games with all 3 losses coming to 5th ranked Clarkston. In those 12 games, the Eagles averaged 56 points per game while giving up 48 points per game. The Roughriders are averaging 49 points per game while giving up 40 points per game.

Roughrider seniors Page Mason and Izzy Felton need just one more win to cash their ticket to the Yakima Sun Dome

The Roughriders will need big games from Seniors Page Mason and especially point guard Izzy Felton. Mason and Felton were both in the stands at Wednesday night’s Skagit Valley – Peninsula College game for good reasons. Mason has a recruiting trip set up to Skagit who is considering Mason for soccer and basketball and the Cardinals are also now keeping a watch on Felton.

Saturday’s game will be broadcast live on KONP Newsradio with the tip off at 2:00. The Les Schwab Tires pre-game show starts at 1:45. Oly Archibald and Joe Gladfelter will have the play by play.

The Peninsula College Pirate men have a big game at home Saturday against Everett. The Pirates, at 7-5 and in 3rd place in the Northern Conference, are a game up on 4th place Everett who are 6-6. The Pirates beat Everett 95-85 at Everett. Tip off time is at 4:00 and it’s the last home game of the year.

The Pirate women will be big favorites over Everett and a net cutting ceremony is planned as the Pirates have clinched the Conference Championship. The women tipoff at 2:00.

Fan favorite Jenilee Donovan; who came from the Arctic Ocean town of Barrow, Alaska to play for Peninsula; will play her final home game for the Pirates
