SEQUIM – An expansion into in-patient mental health services for a Sequim facility is moving into the next phase.

The Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe wants to add a psychiatric evaluation and treatment facility adjacent to the tribe’s healing clinic in the 500 block of South Ninth Avenue.

The $29-million-dollar facility’s plan is now open for public comment under the city of Sequim’s planning process.

The city is putting the design review and the State Environmental Policy Act comment period simultaneously.

The comment period runs through February 27th. After the comment period the city will have four months to render a decision on the plan.

Tribal officials say if approved they hope to start construction of the 16-bed facility this summer and finish by late next year.
