traffic-jam-1

PORT ANGELES – If you were stuck in that huge backup coming westbound into Port Angeles Thursday morning, we learned from the State Patrol what happened.

Troopers say a 31-year-old Port Angeles woman with two kids in the car was slowing down to turn right onto Monroe Road from the highway around 9:30am, when a 79-year-old Sequim man failed to slow down and rear-ended them at a high speed.

The woman’s vehicle was spun around onto Monroe Road, while the man’s truck crossed all lanes of the highway and came to rest blocking one lane of westbound traffic.

The 4-year-old and 14-year-old kids were transferred to Olympic Medical Center with unspecified injuries.

Troopers say charges were pending as of Thursday afternoon.
