UNDATED — Congratulations to Nathan Basden and Matthew Miller of the Roughriders tennis team, they have qualified for the state tournament at the University of Wahington this spring. Miller and Basden went 4-1 to place 5th and won their final match over Foss 6-0; 6-2. Luke Flodstrom and Tate Alton lost a heartbreaker to Washington High School 2-6; 6-4 and 6-7 eliminating them from the tournament but it was a great year for Flodstrom and Alton.

Congrats to Garrett Little of Sequim, who lost in the district championship match, but goes to state as the #2 seed. Little had a 3-hour grind in his semifinal game.

Roughrider Yau Fu will be participating at the Bi District dsiving and swimming meet this Friday and Saturday at Lindbergh high school.

The girls high school soccer district playoffs begin tomorrow with two huge games for Port Angeles and Sequim. The Wolves got the #5 seed and will travel to #4 Enumclaw tomorrow with a 7 pm kickoff. The Roughriders are the #9 seed and host #16 seed Renton at 5:30 pm.

If Sequim beats Enumclaw, they will qualify for the state tournament. The Roughriders must win 3 straight games to qualify for the state tournament. If Sequim loses to Enumclaw, they will have to win 2 straight games to get to state. Because Sequim and Port Angeles are on the same side of the bracket, if Sequim falls to Enumclaw there is a great chance that they could meet Port Angeles this Saturday in a winner to state loser out game.

In a football district playoff game, the Port Angeles Roughriders will travel to Franklin Pierce Friday night for a 7 pm kickoff. The winner goes to the 16-team state tournament. Join Newsradio KONP morning for an in-depth scouting report on the Cardinals.

Newsradio KONP  game Analyst Bill Bates talk with Roughrider Senior Tucker Rygard about Port Angeles’ 55-0 win over North Mason Friday night

The Sequim Wolves missed the district playoffs but will host Fife Friday night for a non-league game. Kickoff is at 7 pm.

In NWAC soccer action, Peninsula College will host a quarterfinal playoff doubleheader this Saturday with the Pirate women playing at Noon and the Pirate men at 2:15 pm. Both winners will qualify for the “Final Four”.
