PORT ANGELES — A big announcement has been made by the Port Angeles Athletic Department. The Port Angeles Roughriders girls basketball team will travel To Neah Bay on December 19th to take on the defending state 1B champions. The Red Devils lost only two seniors and return four starters. They are expected to be ranked #1 in all the pre-season polls.

Neah Bay A.D. Greg Halberg and senior Ryana Moss will host the Roughrider  girls December 16th

The Roughriders will also travel to Chehalis on December 2nd to take on state-power WF West. The Bearcats finished 20-7 last year and lost just one senior. The Bearcats return 6’3″ junior Julia Dalan a major division one college recruit. Julia is the daughter of former Sequim Wolf and Washington Husky linemen Aaron Dalan.

The Port Angeles Roughriders gave their fans plenty to cheer about offensively in the first half against North Kitsap Friday night trailing the Vikings just 26-14 at the half. In the 2nd half the super-talented Vikings scored 25 straight points for the 51-20 win.

The Roughriders travel to Sequim Friday night to try and break the Wolves 7-game win streak against PA.

There is high school tennis action tonight as the Roughriders, 3-0 on the season, host the North Kitsap Vikings in a contest that could very well decide the league championship at the end of the season. The first serve is at 4 pm. Tomorrow the Roughriders travel to Kingston and they will host Sequim on Thursday which will see Nathan Basden of the Roughriders go up against all-state Sequim star Garrett Little.

The Stevens Middle School football team will open up their season Wednesday at home against Forks with the kick off at 4 pm.

In NWAC soccer action Saturday, the nationally 3rd-ranked Peninsula Pirates women’s soccer team destroyed Shoreline by 3 touchdowns and 2 extra points 20-0.

The 9th ranked men beat Shoreline 6-1. The Pirates travel to Edmonds on Wednesday with the women kicking off at 2 pm and the men kicking off at 4:14 pm…
