PORT ANGELES — Peninsula Pirate women’s basketball coach Allison Crumb usually goes north and pulls gold nugget high school basketball players from Eagle River to Nome, Alaska. Crumb has now gone south into Oregon and signed one of the top three-point shooters in that state in 5’4″ shooting guard Maya Rowland. Rowland, out of Central Linn High School was the Central Valley 2A player of the year. Rowland led the Cobras to a 28-2 record and a 3rd place finish at the state tournament. Rowland averaged 18 points per game and was an unanimous first-team all-state selection. She is one of three triplet sisters.

In girls golf action last night, the Port Angeles Roughriders finaly came up short against a good class 3A Bainbridge team losing to the Spartans 179-217. Piper Williams led the way shooting a 52. Lauryn Chapman shot a 53. Mia Neff shot a 54. Claire Osterberg shot a 58. Izzy Spencer shot a 63 and made her first par. Malena Marquez shot a 67.

In high school baseball action today, Sequim will be at Bremerton with the first pitch at.4:15 pm. If the weather holds off you can hear the Sequim game on Newsradio KONP with the Firehouse Grill pre-game show at 4 pm. The Wolves knocked off Bremerton 4-1 on Tuesday and are 6-7 on the season.
The Roughriders are 11-3-1 and ranked 12th in the state, are off until Monday when they travel to an exceptionally good Bainbridge team. You can hear that game here on KONP.

In fast pitch action today, the now ninth-ranked Roughriders with an 9-1 record host Bremerton at 4:15 pm.
The Sequim Wolves, who moved up six spots and are now ranked 20th after beating the Roughriders, travel to Bainbridge with the first pitch at 4:15 pm.

In soccer, North Mason is at Port Angeles and Sequim is at Olympic. Both games kickoff at 6:45 pm.
