PORT ANGELES — The high school spring sports season is in overdrive with lots of events going on.
In track and field action the Port Angeles boys placed 1st out of 9 teams at the Forks invitational. Parker Nickerson placed first in the triple jump and the 110 hurdles. Tanner McLean placed 1st in the 300 hurdles and Leia Larson placed 1st in the 800-meter run.

In golf action last night, both Roughrider teams continue to dominate. The Roughrider girls out shot Kingston 197- 281. Piper Williams shot a 45, Claire Osterberg shot a 49, Lauryn Chapman shot a 50. Malena Marquez knocked 10 strokes off her best score of the year by shooting a 53. Mia Neff shot a 55 and Izzy Spencer shot a 69. The Roughriders will have a tough match tomorrow at Bainbridge.
The Roughrider boys needed a great day to beat a very good Kingston team by 17 strokes 159-176. Austin Worthington once again set the course on fire with a 37. Phoenix Flores shot 39. Edun Bailey shot a 40. Nate Anderson shot a 43. Cale Wentz shot a 44 and Reid Schmidt shot a 47.

In baseball action, the 12th ranked Port Angeles Roughrider boys are 9-3-1 on the season and 6-2 in Olympic league play. They are a game behind 15th ranked North Kitsap. The Roughriders host North Mason at Civic field with the first pitch at 4:15 pm.
The Sequim Wolves, 5-7 on the season, host 4-5 Bremerton with the first pitch at 4:15 pm. The Wolves game this Thursday at Bremerton will be broadcast right here on Newsradio KONP.

In soccer action tonight, 6-3 Port Angeles travels to 2-6 Sequim with the kickoff at 6:45 pm.

In tennis, 4-4 Sequim travels to North Kitsap and Port Angeles travels to Bremerton. Both matches start at 4 pm.

In girls fast pitch, the 5th ranked and 9-0 Port Angeles Roughriders travel to Sequim to take on the 28th-ranked 4-3 Wolves. The Wolves have gone on a dry spell scoring runs against the league’s top teams, scoring just 1 run against North Kitsap and Olympic. The Roughriders have outscored the Wolves in runs scored 130-71 this season.
The first pitch is at 4:15 pm and the game will be broadcast on KONP with the Firehouse Grill Burgers and Fries Dugout Show starting at 4 pm.
The Sequim Wolves will need a big game from pitcher Laney Vig and a few runs from the Wolves’ bats to have a chance to upset the 5th ranked Roughriders.
Tomorrow the Roughriders will travel to Olympic to finish off their game started 2 weeks ago; the game will start with the score tied 2-2 in the 3rd inning.
