SILVERDALE — The Sequim Wolves girls basketball team for the first time since 1987 are the outright Olympic League Champions. The Wolves clinched the championship last night with a 67-38 blowout of Olympic. Senior point guard Hannah Bates had high game honors with 20 points. Sophomore guard Bobbi Mixon continues to heat it up on offense with a career high of 16 points. Senior Jelissa Julmist was outstanding on both ends of the floor and scored 13 points. Libby Turella again gave coach Jocilin Julmist some great minutes and scored 7 points and Taryn Johnson had 6 points. The Wolves are now 13-0 in league play and 17-0 overall. The Wolves will host Port Angeles Thursday night and #1 ranked Neah Bay Red Devils next Tuesday night.

It was also a good night for the Sequim boys as they beat Olympic 74-49. The win clinches a 3rd place finish in the Olympic League with a 7-6 league record and a 9-10 overall record. Charlie Grider had game high honors with 16 points. Brett Motte hit for 11 points and Zack Thompson hit for 10 points. The Wolves host Port Angeles Thursday night at 7 pm.

Speaking of the Roughriders, the girls basketball team beat Kingston last night 55-25. Anna Petty led the Riders with 17 points and Lexie Smith scored 10  The Roughriders will finish in 2nd place in the Olympic League, they will travel to Sequim on Thursday for a 5:15 pm tip off.

The Roughrider boys were down by one point at halftime to Kingston but came back for the 68-60 win.

In NWAC action tonight both Peninsula teams will be on the road at Everett. The 5th ranked Pirate Women will be big favorites while the 2nd ranked Pirate men will have their hands full with 3rd ranked Everett. You can hear both games live on Newsradio KONP with the 7 Cedars Casino pre-game show starting at 4:45 pm.

In boys high school swimming action today, the Roughriders will host Sequim and Bainbridge at 3 pm.
