PORT ANGELES – On Tuesday 44-year-old Ekaterina Parrish of Sequim was booked into Clallam County Jail on two counts of attempted murder. She is suspected of purposely driving down a steep embankment on Bell Hill in Sequim with her two minor children in the car with the intention of killing them all. All three survived.
On November 29th, just after 1:00pm, Clallam County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to a single vehicle collision near 283 Hillside Drive in Sequim.
One of Parrish’s sons had called 911 from his cell phone saying he and his younger brother had just been in a rollover collision and did not know where they were. The boy told 911 dispatch that his mother, who he identified as Ekaterina Parrish, tried to kill them by intentionally driving their car off the roadway.
First responders arrived to find the boys had self-extricated from the vehicle and had been taken to a nearby home to keep warm.
A deputy and multiple bystanders attempted to help Parrish from her vehicle, but she appeared to be unconscious and bleeding heavily from what has been determined to be self-inflicted lacerations to both of her inner wrists.
Parrish was transported by ambulance to Olympic Medical Center and later to Harborview in Seattle due to the extent of her wrist lacerations.
Investigators report that Parrish and her estranged husband have been married for about 15 years, separated for two years, and are in the process of a divorce which included a dispute over custody of the two boys.
They also have an adult son living in Seattle, who is from an earlier relationship of Ms. Parrish’s. Investigators report that before the crash, Parrish left a package with friends, instructing them to give it to her oldest son.
Investigators later opened the package and found that it contained over $178,000 along with information about various bank accounts and passwords.
Parrish was arrested Tuesday morning in Seattle upon her release from Harborview Medical Center.
