FEDERAL WAY — The state swimming and diving meet begins today at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way. The diving competition starts today at 1:30 pm. The Port Angeles Roughriders have Gracie Possinger and Lynzee Reid participating in the diving events.
Tomorrow at 1:30 pm it will be the swimming preliminaries. In the 200 free style in heat 1 from Sequim it will be Annie Ellefson. Also in heat 1 will be Danika Asgeirsson. In heat 2 it will be Brooke St Luise. In heat 3 it will be Harper McGuire.
In the 200-yard individual medley in heat 1 its Sara Wilson and in heat 3 it’s Mackenzie DuBois.
In the 50-yard free style 3rd heat it will be Lizzy Shaw. In the 100-yard butterfly heat 1 it will be Sara Wilson and in the 3rd heat its Mackenzie DuBois.
In the 50-yard free style heat 1 it will be Yau Fu and Harper McGuire. In heat 3 it will be Lynzee Reid. In the 100-yard backstroke heat 1 it will be Rachel Cooper. In heat 2 it will be Danika Asgeirsson. In heat 3, it will be Sequim’s Annie Ellefson.
On Saturday, the swim finals begin at 1:15 pm.

Tomorrow the Port Angeles Roughriders and Sequim Wolves volleyball teams head to Franklin Pierce high school for day one of the Bi District volleyball tournament. The Roughriders, who were given a #10 seed by the WIAA, are automatically in the loser bracket and must win three in a row to make the state tournament in Yakima. The Roughriders take on #15 seed Clover Park at 11 am. If the Roughriders Win, they will play right away at 1 pm to the loser of the #2 seed Washington – #7 seed Foster match up.
5th seed Sequim will play at 3 pm against 4th seed White River. If the Wolves win, they will qualify for the State tournament. They would play Saturday at Sammamish H.S. with the first serve at 1 pm. That would be against the winner of the #1 seed North Kitsap and 8th seed Fife game. If the Wolves lose their opener against White River, they will play at 7 pm against the winner of the 13th seed North Mason – 12th seed Orting game.

One week from tomorrow KONP News Radio will begin its live broadcast of the 2022-2023 basketball season. This year we will be featuring select Port Angeles and Sequim high school plus Peninsula College games. November 18th KONP will broadcast the Peninsula Pirates men’s basketball game at Tacoma CC with the tip off at 8 pm. The next day from Tacoma the Pirates will take on Green River with the tip off at 2 pm.
