Clallam County – The election results are in and Sequim voters said, by a margin of over 2-1, that it was time for a change on the City Council. Meanwhile, Port Angeles voters appear to like things the way they are on their City Council.
In Sequim, Keith Larkin, Mike Pence and Sarah Kincaid, all of them appointed, were defeated by challengers Lowell Rathbun, Vickie Lowe and Kathy Downer, respectively. Rachel Anderson and Brandon Janisse retained their seats, also by a 2-1 margin.
In Port Angeles, Latrisha Suggs, Mike French, Lindsey Schromen-Wawrin and Kate Dexter all appear to have retained their seats. But most of the races are close, with three of the races separated by about 150 votes.
In races for Olympic Medical Center Commission, incumbent Tom Oblak is leading Jim McEntire for the Position 2 seat, while Heather Jeffers is handily beating Karen Rogers for an at-large seat.
In races for Port Angeles School Board, incumbent Sarah Methner has won reelection, and it appears former school administrator Mary Hebert will defeat local mom Gabi Johnson for an open seat.
In Sequim, a candidate that dropped out of the race for school board is leading. Kristi Schmeck has a 1500-vote lead over Virginia Sheppard. Schmeck announced in June she was dropping out of the race, but it was too late to remove her name from the ballot.
Clallam County voter turnout was at 37% with 3,250 ballots left to count, or about 13%.
