PORT ANGELES – The Port Angeles City Council appointed LaTrisha Suggs as the newest member of the council at Tuesday night. Suggs was one of three candidates interviewed separately, in a work session before the regular council meeting, to fill in the two remaining years of councilman Jim Moran’s term following his passing in November.
Professionally, Suggs is a Restoration Planner in the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe’s Department of Natural Resources.
She says one of her highest priorities is improving our local housing issues.
“It takes partnerships. The city’s not just going to be able to solve our housing crisis alone. It’s going to have to take working with the county, working with our state delegation and helping to solve some of those issues, working with the local tribes. It’s across the different jurisdictions, this housing crisis. So it’s not just specific to the City of Port Angeles. But on Council, you know, that is one thing that we hope to be able to tackle and hopefully we’ll be able to see some changes.”
Suggs will be joined by two other freshman councilmembers elected in November, Navarra Carr and Charlie McCaughan.
