PORT ANGELES — In high school baseball action, the Port Angeles Roughriders earned a hard-fought 5-4 win over seventh-ranked North Kitsap.
The Roughriders started Rylan Politika on the mound and used Brayden Martin, Hunter Stratford, and Alex Angevine to secure the victory. Stratford pitched out of a bases-loaded jam, and Angevine closed the game in the seventh inning to earn the save.

The Roughriders needed the win to keep their postseason hopes alive. They are now 3-4 in league play and 3-7 overall.
The Sequim Wolves bounced back from a 7-1 loss to Olympic on Tuesday with an 18-8 win over the Trojans last night.

In tennis, the Roughriders picked up one match win at North Kitsap as the doubles team of Alyssum Larsen and Audrey Rudd earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory.

In soccer, the Roughriders defeated North Mason 4-1 to improve to 5-2 in league play and 7-3 overall.
Kanyon Anderson opened the scoring in the 11th minute with an unassisted goal. Matthew Miller converted a penalty kick at the 22nd minute to give the Riders a 2-0 lead. After North Mason scored early in the second half, Jacob Weaver answered with a goal off a corner kick in the 73rd minute. Miller added his second goal of the night just two minutes later to seal the 4-1 final.
Port Angeles will host Kingston Friday night at 7:15 p.m.

In college soccer, the Peninsula Pirates men’s team has added another European recruit to its roster. Benjamin Lokin of Amsterdam, Netherlands, will join the Pirates this summer.
