
SEQUIM – The Sequim City Band has been recognized with the prestigious 2023 Governor’s Arts & Heritage Award from ArtsWA, a testament to its enduring commitment to community music and cultural enrichment.
Founded in 1992, the Sequim City Band is the only community band on the North Olympic Peninsula. For over three decades, the band has provided free concerts, performing up to ten times a year and welcoming musicians of all ages and skill levels. Its members range from high school students to octogenarians, demonstrating a deep passion for music and lifelong learning.
“This award is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our musicians, as well as the unwavering support of our community,” the band shared in a social media post. “We are honored to receive this recognition and excited for the future of music in Sequim.”
The Governor’s Arts & Heritage Award, presented annually by ArtsWA, honors individuals and organizations that make significant contributions to Washington State’s cultural landscape.
