Port Angeles – Anyone in Port Angeles who has ever participated in Operation Candy Cane at Christmas time has seen Santa Claus and his elves atop the brightly-lit vintage fire engine making the rounds collecting donations for the food bank.
The Port Angeles Fire Department’s Seagrave engine is now almost 70 years old, and the wear and tear have taken a toll. Fire officials say Engine 5, as it’s called, is in need of a total overhaul of the engine and transmission, to the tune of about $40,000, to keep it spreading Christmas cheer for many years to come.
With that in mind, they’ll be holding a fundraiser this Saturday, February 22, in the parking lot at Swain’s from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Come see Engine #5 and say hello to some of your local firefighters and, if you can, donate to this worthy cause.
