Port Angeles – A Port Angeles man was sentenced this week after pleading guilty to possession of child sex abuse materials.
The case began in August of last year when PAPD officers responded to a welfare check with an open door at a residence in the 800 block of E. Lauridsen Blvd. Officers found the residence unoccupied, but observed what they recognized as possible child sex abuse materials in open view.
Officers obtained a search warrant for the residence, which resulted in the seizure of numerous images and multiple digital storage devices. The devices were later forensically examined and thousands of depictions of minors engaged in explicit conduct were found.
Probable cause was developed to arrest 72-year-old Robin Prentice, who was located and booked into the Clallam County Jail. In December, per a plea agreement, Prentice plead guilty to three counts of possession of child pornography.
On Thursday morning, Prentice was sentenced to 61 months in prison to be followed by three years community custody.
He will be required to register as a sex offender.
