PORT ANGELES — In high school basketball action tonight, the Port Angeles girls will be heavy home favorites over Bremerton, while the Sequim girls will be underdogs at home against North Kitsap. Both games tip off at 7:00 p.m.
Roughrider Jr. Becca Manson will try and out shoot Bremerton tonight with a 7:00 home tip off
The Port Angeles boys will be big underdogs at Bremerton, though the Sequim Wolves will be rooting for them. Tip-off time is at 6:00 p.m.
The Sequim Wolves (15-2), ranked 4th and one game behind 5th-ranked Bremerton in the league standings, travel to Poulsbo, where they have not beaten North Kitsap (7-11) since 2014. Former Vikings head coach Scott Orness never lost at home to Sequim during his nine years at North Kitsap. The Wolves dominated the Vikings in their first meeting this season, winning 74-46.
Tonight’s game will be broadcast live here on KONP Newsradio. The Les Schwab Tires Pre-Game Show starts at 6:45 p.m., with Greg Thomas and Joe Gladfelter on the call. Sequim will host Bremerton next Monday night at 7:00 p.m.
State 2A Bowling Tournament
The State 2A Bowling Tournament begins today in Tukwila. The upstart Port Angeles Roughriders will feature Zoey Van Gordon, Xoey Penn, Kenadie Ring, Izzy Spencer, and Leilah Franich knocking down pins.

The Sequim Wolves will have Skyler Krzyworz and Victoria Nava competing for state championships.
NWAC Basketball
Tomorrow in NWAC basketball, the Peninsula College Pirates have a doubleheader at Edmonds. The men take on 8th-ranked Edmonds at 2:00 p.m., followed by the 3rd-ranked Pirate women tipping off at 4:00 p.m. Both games will be broadcast here on KONP Newsradio, with the Les Schwab Tires Pre-Game Show starting at 1:45 p.m.
The Pirate women are 16-2 overall and 8-0 in conference play. They have won 15 games in a row and lead Olympic by a game and a half in the Northern Conference.
Lexie Mackey, a sophomore from Melbourne, Australia, is having an MVP-caliber season, leading the Pirates in scoring with an average of 13 points per game while grabbing seven rebounds per game.
Former Sequim Wolf Jelissa Julmist is averaging 10 points per game and leads the Pirates in rebounding with nine rebounds per game. Edmonds is 4-3 in conference play and 9-10 overall.
College Basketball
Former Port Angeles Roughrider Jaida Wood is finishing up her senior season for the PLU Lutes. The Lutes are 4-6 in conference play and 7-12 overall. Wood has played in 19 games, starting in four, while averaging 15 minutes per game. She is averaging three points and four rebounds per game.
Wood will reunite with her former Roughrider teammate Eve Burke this Saturday night when PLU travels to Linfield for a 6:00 p.m. tip-off.
