PORT ANGELES — In bowling action, the Port Angeles Roughriders narrowly defeated the Sequim Wolves 4-3, winning by just five pins with a total score of 1,595 to 1,590.

The top three two-game scorers for the Roughriders were Zoey Van Gordon with 350, Xoey Penn with 278, and Leilah Franich with 249. For the Wolves, Victoria Nara led with 271, followed by Cooper Heitt with 267 and Kimberly Heintz with 262.

Basketball Matchups Tonight

A big weekend of high school and NWAC basketball begins tonight as the Port Angeles Roughriders travel to North Mason for a doubleheader. The boys’ game tips off at 6:30 p.m., followed by the girls at 8:00 p.m.

  • Boys Game:
    The Bulldog boys defeated the Roughriders 73-70 in their first matchup. North Mason holds a 3-4 league record (3-4 overall), while Port Angeles is tied for last place in the league with Kingston at 1-6 (5-8 overall). The Bulldogs are led by junior guard Cameron Revelez, who averages 18 points per game, and senior forward Andrew Littean, who contributes 14 points and 8 rebounds per game.
  • Girls Game:
    The Bulldogs edged the Roughriders 30-29 in their last meeting. North Mason, at 5-2 in league play, is a half-game ahead of the 4-2 Roughriders. The Bulldogs are led by senior Adrianne Tupolo, averaging 18 points per game. Tupolo is drawing significant recruiting interest from NWAC programs.

Both games will be broadcast on KONP Newsradio, with the Les Schwab Tires pregame show starting at 6:15 p.m.

Other High School Basketball

The Sequim girls travel to Kingston for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.

NWAC Action Saturday

On Saturday, the Peninsula Pirates head to Olympic College. The women’s game starts at 2:00 p.m., followed by the men at 4:00 p.m.

  • Women’s Game:
    Both teams are tied for first place in the conference with 3-0 records. Olympic features former Neah Bay Red Devil and Peninsula Pirate Allie Greene, who averages 15 points per game and is one of NWAC’s top three-point shooters at 40%. Greene scored 27 points in a six-point win at Bellevue.
