BREMERTON — The Sequim Wolves boys basketball team suffered their first loss of the year at Bremerton last night, 78-60. The Knights (7-3) returned most of their team that placed 5th in the state last March in Yakima.

The Wolves (10-1), for the first half, matched the talented and athletic Knights up and down the floor and trailed by just one point at the half, 32-31.

The Wolves’ sophomore Jericho Julmist had sprained his ankle in practice the night before and showed a limp during the pregame warm-ups. However, Julmist put on a show, scoring 29 points and keeping the Wolves in the game. Junior Solomon Sheppard was also outstanding, scoring 18 points. Mason Rapelje added 6 points, Ethan Melnick scored 5 points, and Zeke Schmadeke made a free throw.

At times, the Wolves struggled to keep up with the speed of the Knights. The Wolves committed 18 turnovers, and the Knights turned many of those into layups.

Despite the loss, the Wolves remain optimistic. They still have all their season goals ahead of them. The Wolves will host Bremerton on February 6th, the last regular season game of the year. In a raucous Rick Kaps Gym, that game could very well decide the Olympic League championship.
