Port Angeles – The Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce has announced the finalists for the 2024 Port Angeles Community Awards, and we’re proud to announce that our parent company, Radio Pacific, is on the list.

Chamber officials said in news release Monday that a record number of more than 180 nominations across all six categories were received this year, from which the community panel of judges selected three finalists in each category. All finalists will be celebrated at the Community Awards Gala on Saturday, February 1 at Field Arts and Events Hall, and tickets are available now.

This is the eighth year the Chamber has produced the annual Community Awards, which are grouped into six categories. Nominees do not have to be Chamber members, and the community judging panel does not represent the Chamber. All citizens, businesses, and organizations from the greater Port Angeles area are eligible to be nominated by any community member.

The finalists in each category are:

Citizen of the Year: Marty Brewer, Frances Howell, and Danny Steiger

Young Leader of the Year: Jaiden Dokken, Perry Knudsen, and Rose Thompson

Educator of the Year: Darren Mills, Jason Gooding, and Everett Young

Organization of the Year: Clallam Mosaic, First Step Family Support, and North Olympic Baseball and Softball

Emerging Business of the Year: Brix Marine, Angeles Equipment Rental, and Ridgeline Homecare Cooperative

And in the Business of the Year category: Swain’s, Wilder Auto, and Radio Pacific

This year’s judging panel included: Kennedy Cameron, Educational Attainment Specialist, United Way of Clallam County; Joe Cammack, owner of Jim’s Pharmacy; Julie Hatch, Kitsap Bank Port Angeles branch manager; Colleen Robinson, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County; Ken Simpson, owner of Angeles Electric; Chief Brian Smith of the Port Angeles Police Department; and Jon Unruh, owner of Little Devil’s Lunchbox.

All 18 finalists will be celebrated at the Community Awards Gala on February 1, and a winner from each category will be announced during the event. To purchase tickets for the Gala, or for more information about the Community Awards program, visit Portangeles.org.
