PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles Police have taken a juvenile suspect into custody following a threat made against Port Angeles High School earlier this week.
According to a PAPD press release, on January 9, 2025, School Resource Officer Jason Hooper was alerted to the threat by school staff. Officer Hooper worked with the school to implement safety measures while launching an investigation. In response, additional law enforcement officers were deployed to the school on January 10, including Port Angeles Police, Olympic National Park law enforcement rangers, and Lower Elwha Police officers.
Through his investigation, Officer Hooper identified a juvenile suspect and obtained a warrant for their arrest. The suspect, who was not on campus, was apprehended and booked into juvenile detention on charges of making threats to bomb or injure property under RCW 9.61.160.
Police confirmed there are no additional suspects or ongoing safety concerns. The case has been forwarded to the Clallam County Prosecutor’s Office for review and potential charges.
