It’s a big night of high school basketball tonight with the Bremerton Knights coming to Port Angeles. The Knights have not been as daunting as much of the media predicted. The Knights are 5-3, with a league loss at Bainbridge.

The Knights are led by 6’3″ sophomore shooting guard Alvin Davis, one of the top players in the state. Davis averages 28 ppg and had a 39-point game in a 63-61 loss to Bainbridge. He also scored 37 points against West Valley of Yakima and hit for 33 points against North Mason.

6’3″ sophomore Alvin Davis of Bremerton averages 28 points per game and recorded a season-high 39 points in a 63-61 loss to Bainbridge.

The Roughriders, at 1-4 in league play and 4-6 overall, need to slow the game down and force the Knights into a half-court offense. The Knights average 78 points per game and allow just 46, while the Roughriders average 64 ppg and give up 50. Tip-off is at 7:00 p.m.

It doesn’t get any easier on Monday for the Roughriders, as they travel to Neah Bay to take on the #1-ranked, 8-1 Red Devils. Neah Bay beat the Roughriders last year at home and returns their entire team. That game will be broadcast on KONP Newsradio.

The #2-ranked, 10-0 Sequim Wolves will be looking to end four years of frustration against the 5-5 North Kitsap Vikings. The Vikings have handed the Wolves’ football and basketball teams some tough losses in recent years. Do not think for a minute that the Wolves have forgotten those games and will be out tonight to erase the memories.

The Vikings average just 56 ppg while giving up 67. Meanwhile, the Wolves’ high-powered offense is averaging 69 ppg while allowing just 43. Tonight’s game will be broadcast live on KONP Newsradio, with the Les Schwab Tires Pregame Show starting at 6:45. Oly Archibald, Joe Gladfelter, and Bill Bates will provide live play-by-play. The Wolves have not beaten the Vikings since the 2014-15 season.

In girls’ action tonight, the Port Angeles Roughriders are heavy favorites at Bremerton, and the Sequim Wolves travel to North Kitsap.

The Wolves’ Hailey Wagoner went up for a shot against Roughrider Cayleigh Alward. The Roughriders travel to Bremerton tonight, while the Wolves face North Kitsap on the road.

On Saturday, the Wolves will host Olympic at 4:00 p.m., and that game will also be broadcast on KONP Newsradio.

In NWAC action tomorrow, the Peninsula Pirates host a doubleheader against Edmonds. The third-ranked, 9-2 women tip off at 2:00 p.m., followed by the men at 4:00 p.m.

Peninsula Pirates’ sophomore guard Ciera Agasiva, from Kalihi, Hawaii, is averaging 10 points per game and scored 13 points against Whatcom. The Pirates host Edmonds tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.
