PORT ANGELES — In bowling action, the Port Angeles Roughriders shut out Bremerton 7-0.
Kenadie Ring bowled a two-game total of 217, Lacy Townsend 231, Leila Franich 249, Xoey Penn 280, and Zoey Van Gordon had single-game highs of 178 and 158 for a two-game total of 335.
The Sequim Wolves travel to Olympic today for a 2:45 p.m. start.
Local basketball aficionados are expecting a large turnout of fans in purple tonight at Roughrider Gym as the Sequim Wolves boys’ basketball team, now ranked third in the state by MaxPreps, faces the Roughriders. The Wolves are 9-0 overall and 4-0 in league play.
The Wolves are averaging 71 points per game (ppg) while allowing just 43 ppg, giving them an average win margin of 28 ppg. The Roughriders (4-5) average 66 ppg and give up 55 ppg. While the Roughriders lost to both North Mason and Bainbridge, the Wolves defeated both teams convincingly.
Sequim boasts five players capable of scoring in double figures.
- 6’3″ junior Solomon Sheppard has been a dunking powerhouse, averaging 19 ppg.
- 6’3″ sophomore Jericho Julmist also contributes with his share of dunks and averages 20 ppg.
- 6’4″ senior Charlie Grider averages 8 ppg, with a season high of 17 points against Fife last Saturday.
- 6’3″ senior Eathan Melnick scores 7 ppg and had a season high of 13 points against Fife.
- 5’11” sophomore Mason Rapelje is a standout three-point shooter, averaging 8 ppg.

The Roughriders’ five losses have been by an average of just five points, with two of those games going into overtime.
- 6’0″ senior point guard Gus Halberg leads the Roughriders with a 21 ppg average.
- 6’8″ sophomore Brock Hope is the only other Roughrider averaging double figures, at 10 ppg.
At 1-3 in league play, the Roughriders trail five teams with 2-2 league records. Bremerton sits in third place at 3-1, making tonight’s game critical for Port Angeles to stay competitive in league standings.
The Roughrider girls will host Sequim at 5:15 p.m. in the first game of a varsity doubleheader. Both teams are 1-2 in league play. The Roughriders are 4-6 overall, while the Wolves are 2-5. Both teams have struggled with scoring and turnovers.
- The Wolves average 44 ppg, while the Roughriders average just 41 ppg.
- 5’11” junior Lindsay Smith leads the Roughriders, averaging 14 ppg, with 5’6″ junior Teanna Clark contributing 9 ppg.
