It was a packed weekend for six local high school and college basketball teams. Three teams remained red-hot, one split its games, and another struggled.
College Highlights
Peninsula Pirates Men
The Peninsula Pirates men’s team, led by head coach Bryce Jacobson, had an outstanding performance at the Triton Classic in Edmonds. Entering the tournament with a 1-4 record, the Pirates emerged victorious in all three games, improving to 4-4.
In games broadcast on KONP Newsradio, the Pirates edged Grays Harbor 62-60 and upset ninth-ranked South Puget Sound 44-42, holding the Clippers 37 points below their season scoring average of 79. On Sunday, the Pirates beat Blue Mountain 68-63.
Freshman guard Isaiah Lopez, from Okinawa, averaged 12 points per game, including a game-high 17 and a strong showing from the three-point line. Forward Akeem Sulaiman contributed 11 points per game, while guard Jaiden Blackmon and forward Antonio Odum averaged 10 and 9 points per game, respectively. Former Port Angeles Roughriders Isaiah Shamp and Xander Maestas played significant minutes, while starting point guard Patrick Odingo sat out due to an ankle injury.

Peninsula Pirates Women
The fourth-ranked Pirate women also excelled, going 3-0 in their home Pirate Classic. They defeated sixth-ranked Chemeketa 73-55, Bellevue 67-42, and Green River 94-70.
Lexie Mackey (Melbourne, Australia) and Ryana Moss (Neah Bay) shined, both averaging 13 points per game. Against Green River, Moss hit five three-pointers and finished with 17 points. Alecsis Smith averaged 12 points per game, while Ciera Agasiva and Makena Patrick added 9 points per game. Patrick contributed 14 points and three rebounds off the bench in the Green River game. The Pirates now stand at 5-2.

High School Highlights
Sequim Boys
The Sequim Wolves boys dominated Clover Park 72-43 at Fife High School, improving to 3-0. Solomon Sheppard led the Wolves with 30 points, while Jericho Julmist added 24. Sheppard is averaging 23 points per game, with Julmist close behind at 20 points per game.

Port Angeles Boys
The Roughriders split their weekend games, losing their league opener to North Mason 73-70 before defeating Highline 80-46. They face a major challenge tomorrow at Bainbridge, with the game airing on KONP Newsradio at 7 p.m.
Port Angeles Girls
The Roughriders girls had a tough weekend, falling to North Mason 30-29 and Neah Bay 43-28. Lindsay Smith led the way against North Mason with 9 points, while freshman Sariah Doherty added 8. Neah Bay has now defeated Port Angeles three consecutive years, including two wins in Port Angeles.
Sequim Girls
The Wolves cruised past Kingston 70-34. Gracie Chartraw scored a game-high 20 points, Libby Turella added 14, and Hailey Wagoner recorded 12 points and 19 rebounds. Taylor Heyting chipped in with 6 points and 9 rebounds.
Bowling Action
The Sequim bowling team hosts Bremerton today at 3 p.m.
