PORT ANGELES — Undersheriff Lorraine Shore of the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office has been named the 2024 Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) Sheriff of the Year by Special Olympics Washington. The recognition, announced November 5, highlights her leadership in revitalizing the LETR on the North Olympic Peninsula.
Shore received the award last month during the Washington State Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs Fall Training Conference in Kennewick. LETR State Director Patrick Gilbert, of the Fife Police Department, presented the honor.
In 2024, Shore spearheaded efforts across Clallam and Jefferson counties, engaging 12 law enforcement agencies and surpassing fundraising milestones last achieved in 2011. She ensured inclusivity by adding a walking section and organizing a celebratory finish line for Special Olympics athletes.
In a news release, Sheriff Brian King commended her for fostering community spirit and said her volunteerism and leadership have strengthened bonds between law enforcement and athletes, setting a standard for future LETR events.
