Not guilty plea entered in PA murder case

PORT ANGELES – A man facing murder charges in the death of a Port Angeles woman pleaded not guilty yesterday.

26-year-old Marquise Gregory Hagans-Moore was arraigned in Clallam County Superior Court. He faces second-degree murder charges with domestic violence and firearm enhancements in the September death of 51-year-old Rebecca Rule-Cowles.

The trial is set to begin next May.

Hagans-Moore turned himself in to authorities in Tacoma, admitting to killing his roommate, according to police. Officers later found Rule-Cowles dead from a gunshot wound at an East Whidby Avenue residence.

After a mental evaluation, Hagans-Moore was deemed competent for trial. If convicted, he faces life in prison and a $50,000 fine,

He is due back in court at the end of January.
