PORT ANGELES — Former Port Angeles Roughrider and Peninsula Pirate Krysten McGuffey, now playing for the Western Washington University soccer team, has been named to the GNAC All-Conference Second Team.

The Vikings, champions of the GNAC, are the #5 seed heading into the NCAA Division II tournament. They face #4 seed Azusa Pacific on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Pomona, California.

Meanwhile, the 3rd-ranked Peninsula Pirates women’s basketball team has already faced the NWAC’s 6th- and 4th-ranked teams, splitting the results. The challenge intensifies as the Pirates travel to Eugene, Oregon, to take on top-ranked Lane College this Friday at 6 p.m.

Lane boasts a 3-0 record, including a dominant 108-44 victory over Pierce College. Lane averages 95 points per game while allowing just 32, winning by an average margin of 63 points.

The Pirates will then play 7th-ranked Lower Columbia College on Saturday at 3 p.m. You can hear that game live on KONP Newsradio.

The Port Angeles Roughriders bowling team hosted Klahowya, one of the state’s top programs. Klahowya lived up to its reputation, sweeping the Roughriders 7-0.

The Roughriders were competitive in the first game, losing by fewer than 20 pins, but Klahowya dominated afterward. Zoey Van Gordon bowled a 159 and 145 for a total of 302. Izzy Spencer achieved a personal best with a 146, while freshman Lucy Townsend bowled a 140.
