Sequim – On Saturday, November 9th, the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula hosted its 36th annual fundraising auction and dinner at the Carroll C. Kendall Club in Sequim. This year’s event, inspired by the beloved TV series Friends with the theme “I’ll Be There for You,” drew a crowd of 400 attendees and raised a record-breaking $602,000.
For three days, the Clubhouse was transformed into the New York apartments and the Central Perk Café, complete with the iconic orange couch featured as part of the Selfie Station. Attendees were treated to performances by Club youth, along with a live and silent auction, and raffles.
Thanks to a generous $100,000 matching gift from board member George Brown, the “Bids for Kids” paddle raise set a record for the amount raised at over $393,000.
Here’s the Boys and Girls Club’s Janet Gray.
“This is our 36th annual auction, and I think one of the things that separates our fundraising auction from others is that we pick a new theme every year, and folks really enjoy that change. And the theme song from Friends, “I’ll Be There For You”, really marked a significant parallel to what we do with our kids in the clubhouse every day, and our families. And, it’s just really heartwarming to know that everyone is willing to step up, and believes in the mission, and allows us to continue to provide that service to our families in need.”
Funds raised will directly support the Boys & Girls Clubs’ programs in the Port Angeles and Sequim communities.
