Port Angeles – A 24-year-old Port Angeles man has been sentenced to 29 months in state prison after pleading guilty in October to Assault.

Police say the case began on the night of August 21 near Second and Lincoln in Port Angeles as the victim of the assault was unlocking his bicycle. He told police he was approached by Tim Quaempts and a group of a half dozen young males. After exchanging words, the suspect, unprovoked, punched the victim in the face. Then the rest of the group attacked him, knocked him to the ground, stole his belongings and his bicycle, which was valued at about $3,000.00.

The group then walked into the downtown district as the victim followed them hoping to get his property back. The group attacked him again in a parking lot and soon after they beat him up a third time.

The victim described Tim Quaempts as the “ringleader” of the group. While the victim was talking to police, other Officers responded to a disturbance near 4th and Laurel. Quaempts was involved in that disturbance and identified by the victim as the primary suspect in the three attacks.

Quaempts was arrested and booked for Robbery. His case was resolved with a plea to Assault in the third degree, a felony.

Quaempts was also convicted in 2015 of Child Molestation and in 2020 for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.
