PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Roughriders soccer team faces Steilacoom tonight in a loser-out game at Steilacoom, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. The winner will play the loser of tonight’s North Kitsap-Fife semifinal on Saturday.

The Sequim Wolves football team (5-4) will make their first playoff appearance since 2018, taking on the 8-1 WF West Bearcats on Saturday at noon at Tiger Stadium, Centralia High School.

The Bearcats started their season strong, beating North Kitsap 40-7 in Poulsbo. However, they showed vulnerability in a 52-0 loss to Tumwater. The Bearcats average 39 points per game while allowing only 9 and have one of the smallest interior lines the Wolves have faced. The offensive line averages 6’0″ and 206 pounds, smaller than Olympic’s line at 6’2″ and 275 pounds. However, WF West’s skill players are among the best in the state.

Quarterback Gage Brumfield, a 6’2″, 205-pound senior committed to Eastern Washington, is a versatile player who previously earned All-League honors as a wide receiver. His sister Drea plays basketball for Montana State, and another sister was a coach at Lower Columbia College. The Bearcats run a one-back, four-receiver offense featuring standout senior receiver and kick returner Ross Kelly (5’9″, 170 pounds).

The Sequim Wolves will have to deal with WF West QB Gage Brumfield who is heading to Eastern Washington University

The Bearcats are coached by Dan Hill, a former quarterback at Elma High School and Western Washington University, and assisted by Bob Wallun, a nearly 40-year coaching veteran with a state championship win at 2A Pullman High School.

The Wolves will need a big day from their offensive line lead by Senior Johhny Prorok against the Bearcats
