PORT ANGELES – The Port Angeles Food Bank announced the start of a new community tradition in November. They’re calling it “Food Fight!”, a fundraising and food-donation challenge for community members and businesses.
Here’s how it will work:
Individuals and businesses commit to raising funds and collecting food for the Port Angeles Food Bank through the month of November, then challenge other people and businesses to do the same in a friendly competition.
Competitors are asked to use creativity to bring in funds and food with support from the food bank. Businesses might collect food at their locations, for example, and individuals may choose to collect at their workplace or on their front porch.
Financial donations can be made by mailing a check to PO Box 1885, Port Angeles, WA 98362, or online at portangelesfoodbank.org/food-fight, or by texting FOODFIGHT2024 to 44321.
Competitors can create their own custom fundraising page hosted by the food bank to encourage friendly fundraising challenges among family, friends, co-workers, or employees. Information on exactly how to participate is at the Food Fight! link.
In addition, participants are invited to join the Food Fight! Facebook group to shout out other businesses and interact with fellow competitors to keep it fun and maintain momentum during the month-long event.
At the end of November food fighters will bring all donations to the Port Angeles Food Bank during open hours to tally their results and determine the winner of the first-ever PAFB Food Fight!, which will be announced in the first week of December. The winner will be thanked on social media, in the food bank’s newsletter, and in other materials.
