PORT ANGELES — Starting today crews will begin replacing sidewalks along Front Street between Lincoln and Peabody Streets. One lane of Front Street will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Drivers should expect a lane shift and follow traffic signs. The sidewalk will also be closed during work hours and is scheduled to reopen by Friday, weather permitting.

This work is part of the City’s Downtown Tree and Sidewalk Replacement Project, which aims to fix trip hazards and improve downtown spaces. Crews are repairing damaged sidewalks, curbs, and ramps, and replacing overgrown trees causing sidewalk damage.

The project, which began in April, has already completed repairs on sections of Front, Oak, and Laurel Streets, as well as Railroad Avenue. Additional repairs were added after more hazards were identified.

Work will continue through November, with tree planting planned before the project wraps up.
