SEQUIM — Clallam County officials will host a public meeting tonight to discuss the Dungeness Off-Channel Reservoir project south of Sequim.
The meeting runs 6-8 pm at the Guy Cole Center at Carrie Black Park.
County officials say the meeting, structured as an open house, will offer updates on the project with a particular focus on findings from a Fault Hazard Analysis conducted by the consulting firm Shannon & Wilson. Attendees will also hear about revised preliminary design options, land acquisition progress, environmental review status, and other project details.
The reservoir project aims to address low river flows on the Dungeness River by storing water during the wetter winter and spring months for use during dry periods.
But the plan is drawing criticism. Many people living downstream from the proposed reservoir are concerned about its failure if there is an earthquake.
