
PORT ANGELES — In tennis action yesterday, the Port Angeles Roughriders improved their impressive record to 11-2 with a 5-2 win over Bremerton. It was the last home match for a group of nine seniors who have helped make the Roughriders a league power.
Seniors Tate Alton, Garrett Buerer, Nathan Basden, Luke Flodstrom, Keatyn Hoch, Austin Worthington, Carter Gunderson, Zach Neff, and Kaleb Lightner played their final home matches.
In singles, Tate Alton lost to Joseph Cao 3-6, 2-6. Cao qualified for last year’s state tournament. In a close, hard-hitting match, Eli Garner fell to Sky Gelder 6-3, 6-7, 6-7. Garrett Buerer won 6-0, 6-2.
In doubles action, Luke Flodstrom and Nathan Basden won 6-0, 6-0; Austin Worthington and Keatyn Hoch won 6-1, 6-1; Carter Gunderson and Zach Neff won 6-0, 6-1; and Carston Siebel and Grant Butterworth won 6-0, 6-1.
The Roughriders will travel to Kingston on Thursday.

In rowing, the Olympic Peninsula Rowing Association participated in the Fall Classic on American Lake in Lakewood. Roughrider sophomore Cooper Disque placed first in the U17 division. A team of middle schoolers—Hattie Peterson, Peyton Acker, Mariah Disque, and freshman Kadence Greul—placed 10th in the JV 4X division. In volleyball last night, Bainbridge swept Sequim 3-0, and Olympic swept Port Angeles 3-0.

In soccer, Bainbridge beat Sequim 3-0, and Port Angeles defeated Olympic 2-0, with Kedryn DeScala scoring both goals for the Roughriders.
